The Text and the Translation Race

French scholars protested bitterly—some reportedly wept—but the stone was crated and shipped aboard HMS L'Egyptienne to Portsmouth, arriving in February 1802. King George III donated it to the British Museum, where it has remained ever since, displayed in the Egyptian Sculpture Gallery. Why It Still Matters
